Listening to Your Body for Better Health

We are often reminded that vibrant health is our greatest asset as without it we would not have the ability to create and manifest other things.
Many folks are lucky enough to have great health without much effort. Yet for others, better health is something that they work on every day.
Your body is constantly communicating with you through your mind and your emotions. Being aware of this body-mind connection is an essential link to overall physical wellness.
Give yourself permission to feel
Dr. Deepak Chopra, prolific author, physician, spiritual guru and master teacher, offers the following as basic steps for establishing the link between body and mind for overall wellness:
“Feel what you feel. Don’t talk yourself into denial.”
“Accept what you feel. Don’t judge what’s actually there.”
“Be open to your body. It’s always speaking. Be willing to listen.”
“Trust your body. Every cell is on your side, which means have hundreds of billions of allies.”
“Value spontaneity. Emotions change, cells change, the brain changes. Don’t be the policeman who stops the river of change by blocking it with frozen, fixed beliefs.”
Take inventory of your health and stress level
It is worthwhile to take a general inventory of your health and stress level. If you are constantly fatigued, experiencing unexplained symptoms that have been going on for a while, or you have a feeling of achiness in your chest, or a tightness in your stomach, these signs are telling you that your body is out of balance. Reflect on everything in your life from your diet to the amount of exercise o your relationships and to the overall stress level in your life. Make sure you are setting aside enough time for rest and renewal; recharging your batteries by getting adequate sleep, fresh air and exercise, may seem simplistic, but it is the first step.
Practice Mindfulness
Your body is constantly giving your messages. Sometimes these are quiet whispers and sometimes these are loud shrieks. Increasing your awareness for the quieter whispers ensures that these symptoms don’t manifest as bigger health issues. By practicing mindfulness you will increase body awareness which can then facilitate the prevention of illness and give you vibrant health Listening to your body is a powerful step towards taking care of your body and ensuring wellness not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally.
Remember that you are in charge of your own house. Take charge of your dwelling and don’t let the termites eat away at the foundation.
